Barry Jenkinsin ohjaama ja Colson Whiteheadin Pulitzer-palkittuun romaaniin perustuva "Maanalainen rautatie" kertoo Cora Randallin epätoivoisesta matkasta vapauteen Etelässä ennen sisällissotaa. Georgialaiselta plantaasilta paettuaan Cora näkee, että huhuttu Maanalainen rautatie ei olekaan pelkkä kielikuva vaan Etelän maiden alla kulkeva oikea rautatie.
