The Handmaid's Tale -sarjan tarina jatkuu The Testaments -sarjassa, joka on Gileadiin sijoittuva dramaattinen kasvutarina. Sarjan keskiössä on kaksi nuorta, tunnollinen ja hurskas Gileadin kasvatti Agnes ja Gileadin ulkopuolelta saapunut tulokas Daisy. Heidän tiensä kohtaavat Lydia-tädin eliittikoulussa, jossa tulevia vaimoja koulitaan tottelevaisuuteen ankarasti Jumalan nimessä. Versova ystävyys sytyttää kipinän, joka mullistaa nuorten elämän.
