Tositarinaan perustuva The Good Mothers kertoo kolmesta naisesta, jotka uskaltavat uhmata ‘Ndranghetan mafiaa: Lea Garofalon tytär Denise, Maria Concetta Cacciola ja Giuseppina Pesce. Naisia auttaa syyttäjä Anna Colace, joka ymmärsi heti Calabriaan saavuttuaan, että ‘Ndranghetan klaanien kaatamiseksi olisi keskityttävä naisiin. Strategia on riskialtis, sillä ‘Ndrangheta on pahamaineinen ja pelätty rautanyrkkinsä ja salakavalan valtansa vuoksi. The Good Mothers seuraa Denisen, Maria Concetta Cacciolan ja Giuseppina Pescen pyrkimystä vapautua mafian rikollisesta vallasta ja tehdä yhteistyötä viranomaisten kanssa.
