Juoni

Rick on mieleltään epätasapainoinen, mutta tieteellisesti lahjakas vanha mies, joka on vastikään tutustunut taas perheeseensä. Hän viettää suurimman osan ajastaan nuoren tyttärenpoikansa Mortyn kanssa vaarallisissa seikkailuissa avaruuden ja vaihtoehtoisten universumien halki. Yhdistettynä Mortyn jo ennestään epävakaaseen perhe-elämään, nämä tapahtumat aiheuttavat Mortylle paljon stressiä sekä kotona että koulussa.
