From 1977 to 1998, the spirited, anything-goes public access pioneer Robin Byrd created, produced, and hosted a late-night call-in show that incorporated performances and interviews with adult entertainers and experimental artists – all while clad only in her signature black crochet bikini. Providing a platform for sex-positivity and free speech from her studio in New York, Byrd's unapologetic eponymous program also became the target of a national censorship battle that took her to the Supreme Court, cementing her legacy as a fierce First Amendment advocate. Directed and produced by Jyllian Gunther and Stephanie Schwam, this documentary celebrates a woman who defied expectations and remains a pioneer in the world of content creation and a cult icon.
